Integrated Oil Mill & Oleochemical Industry

Integrated oil milling and oleochemical manufacturing involves the mechanical extraction and refining of crude vegetable oils (from oilseeds like castor, mustard, soybean, or palm) paired with downstream chemical splitting, distillation, and fractionation to produce core fatty acids, glycerine, fatty alcohols, and specialized derivatives (such as Ricinoleic Acid, 12-Hydroxy Stearic Acid, and fatty amines). Because of the heavy pollution potential associated with synthetic organic alterations and chemical fractionation, oleochemical manufacturing units are classified under the Red Category by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and fall under Category 5(f) (Synthetic Organic Chemicals) of the EIA Notification.

Our Specialized Services (Since 1990)

With over three decades of experience, San Envirotech provides a "Cradle-to-Grave" compliance roadmap for the Oil Mill and Oleochemical industry.

I. Pre-Operational Services (Planning & Approval Phase)

  • Site Suitability & Due Diligence: Evaluating potential real estate plots against MoEF&CC siting guidelines, prioritizing safe distances from eco-sensitive buffer zones, protected water bodies, and human settlements.
  • EIA & Public Hearing Management: Executing comprehensive multi-season environmental baseline monitoring (ambient air, groundwater, soil health, and noise) and managing technical representations during the public consultation phases.
  • Design of ETP/STP/MEE/RO: Engineering custom-tailored wastewater treatment trains capable of breaking tough oil-water emulsions and separating glycerine or sodium sulfate by-products, utilizing advanced biological systems, Multi-Effect Evaporators (MEE), and high-pressure Reverse Osmosis (RO) to deliver an optimized Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) footprint.

II. Operational Services (Compliance & Optimization)

  • CCA/CTO Renewals & Amendments: Overseeing timely operating permit renewals and executing technical file submissions for "Change in Product Mix" allocations, enabling rapid transitions between different fatty acid fractions or downstream derivative capacities without halting plant operations.
  • Hazardous Waste Management (Form 4 & 10): Providing rigorous engineering protocols for the collection, storage, and disposal of spent catalysts (such as nickel catalysts from hydrogenation), distillation residues, and hazardous primary chemical sludges.
  • Environmental Audits & Statements: Structuring annual Environmental Statements (Form V) based on exact process mass balance data to minimize utility overheads and audit waste generation indices.

III. Strategic Regulatory Guidance

  • Liaison & Representation: Utilizing our 30+ years of technical credibility to deliver precise, data-driven presentations before State Level Expert Appraisal Committees (SEAC) or central MoEF&CC expert panels.
  • Legal Defense & Show Cause Support: Compiling empirical operational evidence, environmental audit updates, and structured corrective action plans to defend facilities facing SPCB show-cause notifications or sudden non-compliance observations.
